1947-1952 : Beside a research and cultural center, a developing team had visioned a turistique center in this area, encouraging new ways of discovering Europe, later coming to the creation of an International Welcoming Center and the first International Exchanges.
1952-1955 : Accessions to the Fédération Française des Maisons des Jeunes et de la Culture and the United Federation of Youth Hostels, allowed a significant expansion of our international relations.
1955-1965 : After the independence of the countries of the Maghreb and Black Africa, came the establishment by the State of the THE OFFICE FRANCO-GERMAN FOR YOUTH (OFAJ) and the THE OFFICE FRANCO-QUEBEQUOISE. These organizations encouraged the multiplication of youth hostals in Europe, the internship opportunities, and the sessions of "Knowledge of France", later structuralizing our sector of language education. The CIS of Reims was the first language educational center of languages such as Russian, Chinese, Arabic, German, and many more.
1965-1972 : The idea of a new building to accommodate all the activities of the Center Saint-Exupéry was born in the minds of directors and the Mayor of Reims: The layout was in place and the funding was being sought in the State's socio-educationa programs. In January 1972, the new Saint-Exupéry Center opens its doors to a wider audience for the socio-educational, cultural, and leisure in the grip of the project of the Parc Léo Lagrange. The former building of the street Werlé takes the name of INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF RESIDENCE, featuring a larger space and greater expansion of its activities to host international exchange of language teaching.
1972-1976 : During this time, relations with the city to build a functional CIS Center near Saint-Exupéry continue.
The construction is undertaken. The opening is effective until June 1976.
1979 : The C.I.S. Reims accedes to the Union Centers Rencontres Internationales de France: U.C.R.I .F.
1982 : Due to the statistics of more than 3,000 overnight stays, the board proposed the Mayor of Reims to extend the building space to double the capacity.
1982-1988 : The Mayor approves the proposed extension, studies once again the situation and the final draft is adopted. On 1 July 1988, the Board of Directors of Saint-Exupéry Center decided to give autonomy to the CIS Reims, therefore a new association was created by law in 1990.
1990 : The C.I.S.R. obtains the approval of the State Secretariat for Youth and Sports and the Secretariat of State for Tourism. The City of Reims gives the C.I.S.R. the management of the Halte Nautique built under the Port Boulevard Paul Doumer.
1991-1997 : Any team that works passionately for the development of international relations, if necessary at this time, awaited the construction of this extension with faith and impatience. Yes, the city of Reims is positioned in the Great East, among the greatest international hosting cities, at a time when the youth of the world has an unimaginable thirst for discovery and knowledge.
1998 : The extension of the CIS starts in August of this year for a period of one year. The CIS will then have 140 beds and a catering service.
1999 : The work ahead went at good pace, delivery of building and opening to the public were scheduled for August 2, 1999. Luckily, the CIS will hosted the number of tourists expected for the Eclipse of 11 August 1999.
On 6 August, Cis finally opened to the public. It welcomed many tourists during the total eclipse of the sun on August 11th and during the international meeting of world agricultural Pomacle (51) "Earth attitude."
2000 : The new extension allows us to welcome more and more groups of different nationalities.
2001 : Recent modern remodelation of the new building allows CIS to acquire one of the best reputations, nationally and internationally.
2006 : March 24 2006: CIS celebrates its 30th anniversary and honors its founding members. (André Migeo, Henri Desdouits,
Michel Feck ....)
2007-2008 : Renovation of the oldest building: new colors in the rooms, halls, offices and corridors, and also the installation of showers to meet the needs of our clients; changing windows and radiators were also part of the renovation and of course, sustainable development and energy were taken into account. |
